What Accreditation Means

The Imagine Canada Standards Program is “Canada’s most widely recognized nonprofit standards” designed to “help organizations strengthen governance and operations.”

Accredited organizations are those that have successfully completed a rigorous independent peer review of their operating and governance practices.

Organizations that earn accreditation have proven excellence in five fundamental areas:

Board governance
Financial accountability & transparency
Fundraising practices
Staff management
Volunteer involvement
